Obsession Du Jour: Neutrogena

Hi Everyone, I know, I know! I have been a very bad blogger. I have excuses though! I just moved! It was fashion week and now it is market week for buyers! Its a lot going on! I promise I am back and will be posting a lot more regularly again.

Anyway, I wanted to let you guys know a secret. I have been so busy I haven't even really been taking care of my skin, I know, horrible also. Anyway, interestingly enough my skin is in perfect condition now. I attribute this to making the decision to not wear foundation anymore and to the below product (I will make a post on the no-foundation thing next).

The Neutrogena Oil-Free makeup wipes have been a god send for me. I have tried tons and tons of makeup wipe type of products. I hate the MAC ones, they are greasy and hurt my face, Ive tried the Korres, which smell amazing but are expensive. These babies are only 5.49 and available at every drugstore. I really like these because they remove every trace of makeup without leaving any residue or greasy feel, hence you don't need to rinse off. I find that when a product leaves residue that is when you are going to break out! This is so key for me when I have very late nights and fall into bed around 4am way too lazy to wash my makeup off. I leave a packet of this next to my bed for this very reason.

Also, a key point of these are that they have pore un-clogging agents. I looked at the ingredients and basically its just salicylic acid but my skin responds well to this.

Have any of you tried these? What do you think?
What is your favorite makeup wipe brand?

  1. I currently like the Simple mango wipes, they do the job and no weird soapy slimey feeling that you get with some wipes :)

  3. I haven't tried their wipes, but I do love Neutrogena products in general. I like their grapefruit exfoliant. I have very dry skin, but it gets the job done without causing irritation. Good stuff!

  5. I've used the blue and peach colored package of Neutrogena wipes and they were cool...Right now I have the pomegranate Korres wipes which I actually like a bit more than Neutrogena but as you mentiioned they aren't cheap. With only a few Korres wipes left, I want to try Ole Henriksen's new wipes next. However, I will pick up the deep clean make-up wipes and compare them to Ole's and see which one I like the best.

Thanks for the post! I was definitely wondering: "Where is Madamoiselle Belle du Jour?" :-) I visit your blog daily for my fashion fix!

  6. I'm totally with you on the no foundation thing - I love not having to wear foundation, but my skin is so hideous at the moment I'm scared to go without! I managed my first 27 years only wearing it about once a month and I'd love to go back to that soon!x

  8. I've just discovered Neutrogena's Rapid Clear Treatment and did a review on that. Would love it if you could check it out :D

Also, if it contains salicylic acid, I'm not surprised it works. I'm using Olay ones at the moment and it removes most of my panda eyes, but for 100% effectiveness, I really need Clinique's Take the Day Off - that thing's darn good!

  12. I find the Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes (the blue pack), works amazingly well on my skin. I have really really dry skin, but it's finicky as far as residue and having a product leave that oily/greasy film. I love that they don't sting my eyes either. And I agree, I love going back to your older videos as a reference point!

  13. i actually preferred the night calming purple ones instead. i tried this one but found that it smelled too strongly of alcohol so i switched and now am hooked to the purple ones. well, either way neutrogena makes great cleansing wipes! =)

  14. I haven't tried these, but definitely will be picking up some tonight because I have the worst habit of going to bed without washing my face. Yucky I know, but since I don't wear foundation it doesn't bother me much when I skip a night or two... The last wipes I've used were the tea tree oil wipes from The Body Shop.

  16. I hate MAC wipes! I don't get the love for them. They just sting.

I really like Clean&Clear makeup removing wipes. They get my makeup off and they're not irritating whatsoever. I think that I've tried the Neutrogena wipes that come in the purple pack (the night calming ones?) but the C&C are more effective. I also used to use ones from Ponds which are indeed super-effective but too abrasive for every day use (in my opinion anyway).

  17. I go back and forth on the no foundation thing! I love the makeup remover in the blue packets bc I feel like the orange packet don't take off all my makeup? Have you compared the two?

  18. I wish I could go without foundation, but my skin is so bad, there's no way I could. These sound good, it's too bad Neutrogena test on animals :(

  20. Hi Dara, I use the Kirkland wipes with Chamomile and vitamin E (I think) from Costco. They are very very lightly scented, nothing offensive, and get ALL my makeup off, including mascara and eyeliner. I have combination skin, which gets very dry in the winter.

  21. Love you blog and your videos <3

I also have stopped using foundation and even my tinted moisturizer. I find my skin feels and looks better without using those stuff. I still use concealer for my under eyes or of I get a random blemish.
Anyway I will have to try out these wipes!
