Obsession Du Jour 4.30.09

So, I am obsessed with MAC's EZ Baby tendertone, and unfortunately I know that it is limited edition and super hard to find. I had to come to terms with this sad reality. What I did instead of try to find every last EZ baby tendertone in the world (just kidding, I did already do that to no avial) was try to find the perfect dupe. I think I came pretty darn close, minus the yummy strawberry kiwi scent.

It has the perfect non sticky consistency and the perfect milky white pale pink color. I am in love.

I am the only person that thinks the MAC wipes are the most overrated product ever? My Neutrogena makeup removing wipes are better and half the price. I love you MAC but no....

Spring Look Du Jour 4.30.09

I felt very Spring-y this morning even though it wasn't as warm in New York City as it has been the past few days. Yesterday, I caved into MAC's aquavert eyeshadow and I am so glad I did. I initially stayed away from it because I am not a pastel kinda girl. It had been calling my name for some time and I resisted, until now. I swatched it on the back of my hand, and I loved what a shimmery light green wash it gave me. It isn't too pigmented which I consider a good thing in this shadow. You could definitley build up the color if you wanted to by layering and using fix+

Anyway, See below, the picture is not as vibrant as the look is in real life. It was a bit more green.

Experiment Lilash Du Jour 4.30.09

Okay, so I am obsessed with Fake Eyelashes because I love love love long eyelashes. When I heard about this "miracle" product that doubles the length of your eyelashes in 8 weeks I was in and immediately forked over $120. Yes! I know, its a lot of money but everyone I spoke with swore on it.

This is my before picture, without mascara. I have now been using this product for 4 weeks on the dot. It is a clear eyeliner gel that you apply to the base/ root of your eyelashes. I have pretty long lashes to begin with but i would love thicker and even longer ones. I will post another shot at the 6 week mark as that is when you are supposed to see the results.

1. MAC Cakeshop all over lid

2. Coastal Scents Dupe for Aquavert on Inner corner and 1/2 of eye with MAC 242 brush

3. Make Up Forever Diamond Shimmer shadow in 310 on outer 2/3 of Eye for MAC 242 Brush

4. MAC Brule to blend to eyebrow with the MAC 244 Brush

5. NARS Nightporter in Outer V with Elf Angle fluffy brush

6. MAC pigment in Platinum on the center of the ball of your lid, for a POP with MAC 242 Brush

7. MAC Brule to blend up to eyebrow with the MAC 227 brush

8.. MAC Deep Blue Green pigment in Crease

9. MAC Black Tied in the Outer Corner to further deepen with MAC 226 pointed blender brush.

10. MAC solar white to highlight under brow bone with MAC 227 Brush

11. MAC black Liquid Last eyeliner and YSL Faux Cils Mascara in Black to Top it off.

12. MAC otherworldly Blush for cheeks

13. MAC cakeshop shadestick on lips as a base and MAC platinum pigment pressed over.

Obsession Du Jour 4.28.09

I was so excited when I heard that Dolce and Gabbana was coming out with a makeup line. I have had the pleasure to meet Stefano and Domenico a few times through work and I am severely obsessed with them. They are such creative chic creatures. They worked closely with Pat Mcgrath, renowned makeup maven to create this line.

Anyway, My excitement continued to grow as I heard that Scarlett Johansson was going to be the face of the line. According to Stefano and Domenico, the reason why they wanted Scarlett was for her similarities to Marilyn Monroe, "Everyone knows that men prefer blondes", quoted from Domenico Dolce. I love the look of the campaign, blonde, bronzed, smoky eyes and a nude lip.



I have not seen it in person yet, but I see that the website it up and running. It was launched in Milan, during the fashion shows in March. I do not know how I feel about the packaging, all gold, sometimes can come across quite tacky, but I reserve judgment for in person!

There is nothing ground shattering that I see so far in the collection, I would like to try the bronzer and one of the quads. It is not available online yet and it does not say where it will be carried yet besides Selfridges in London. I will have to stop by next time I am in London for work.

I have been in contact with NARS for a top secret project having to do with my work but I saw a sneak preview of this baby a few weeks ago. The colors are gorgeous in real life and definitely on my list of MUST HAVES! I love any palette with a black, since i am the queen on matte black smokey eyes.

Obsession Du Jour 4.27.09

One word... TENDERTONE.

If you all are familiar with MAC as I am, and that is super extra like a sister familiar then you will know exactly what I am referring to.

I am one of the people that was in love with tendertones and cried dearly when I ran out of my beloved coveted EZ Baby tendertone, low and behold a wonderful MUA'er did a swap with me for a brand new one. I am so happy I finally have my baby back, although now I am scared to use it and run out again.


EZ Baby is a cool, milky pale pink, my favorite color in a lip product. This could not be more perfect, it also smells like Kiwi- Strawberry which is great. The swatch on my lips is not quite accurate as in person it is a bit lighter and milkier.

Anyone else praying to the MAC gods of a re-release of the tendertones?

Drugstore Finds Du Jour 4.26.09

Okay, so every time I pass a drugstore I have an urge to go in and peruse the cosmetic aisle. I love high end cosmetics but I love drugstores too! I actually went to the drugstore about 2 weeks ago with my best friend and got this stuff. I have just gotten around to posting it today. Anyway, I got AMAZING stuff.

First of all, Method, do all of you know this brand? They make cool cleaning supplies. I know that sounds weird but they make amazing soaps, lotions, sprays yadda yadda.
Anyway, I found this in the baby aisle, near the diapers and diaper rash cream. True Story.
Method Baby Squeaky green body lotion: First off, let me start by saying that this and the below product both have the most incredible smell EVER. That is the main reason I bought both. The scent is Marshmallow and Rice milk. It is the softest, warmest, vanilla, marshmallow, comforting smell. I absolutely love it. I have been using the lotion every night. It is a light moisturizing lotions for around $6.

Method Baby Squeaky green bubble bath: The bubble bath has the same amazing smell, hypoallergenic and makes tons of bubbles. PERFECT. Around $6 as well.



Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara: I have already reviewed this below. It made my eyes burn, but I have recently tried it again and it did not have this effect. I will have to look more into this.

Palmers Coco Butter Lip Butter: SMELLS INSANE. Let me say, I usually do not like chocolate smells, but this one smells like hot chocolate almost with a mint twist. This is VERY moisturizing (has coco butter in it), and has the consistency of Vaseline. It gives a nice shine and totally not sticky. I have been using this constantly, I even went back to buy 2 more in case I cant find it anymore. Love love love.


Maybelline dream mousse in Pink Frosting: This is like a whipped cream mouse blush. It is really cool. I love pink cheeks so I went for this color. It is very pigmented and blends very easily and for $7 I love it. It is very easy to use and stays a long time. The texture is really awesome and fun, very soft!

MAC Collection Du Jour 4.25.09

I have been hearing lots of rumblings about this collection coming up and I have to say after being very dissapointed with MAC's new one out right now Rose Romance, I am psyched for Style Warriors. Above are the Promo shots from Tempalia.com. The first picture really grabs me, the bronzed, golden goddess type. I don't wear bright yellow so the second does entice me into the products, but it is a great shot, very tribal.

I am very excited for:

• Lustre Drops- You can add this to your foundation to give you sheen and a dewy look. You all know how keen I am on this.
• SOLAR BITS!! Eyeshadow pigment chunks, sorta...bad way to describe that.
• Soft Force (Soft Champagne), Night Maneuvers (Brown- Taupe) and Vibrant Grape (Purple!! My new favorite color for Summer!!!) eyeshadow. I love shimmery soft nudes, taupes and Purple. I will be leaving off Bright Future (Yellow)
