NARS Obsession Du Jour 4.9.10

From left: CadaquƩs, Beverly Hills, and Turks & Caicos.

My mouth is watering for the new brightly colored Multiples, officially called 'Tint Tubes'. The word on the street is they wont be available until May and will be a sheer color that will be buildable to an intense pop splash of fabulous-ness! How delicious do they look? They remind me of Popsicle sticks. I am jonesin' for the Orange called Turks and Caicos. I hope these live up to my expectations unlike the Spring 2010 collection!

Who wants in?

Dissapointment Du Jour 1.30.10: NARS Orgasm Illuminator and NARS Easy Lover Lipgloss

A big fat F for Failure for NARS Orgasm Illuminator and Easy Lover lip gloss. I do not even have a swatch because I want to return both to Sephora ASAP.

I am so let down by both, first of all, I will start with the lip gloss. From the tube and the description I thought it would provide a transparent hot pink wash to your lips, very juicy looking. No No NO! All it was was a clear gloss with a slight berry stain look to it, definitely not worth $24. Another reason I am so upset is because Easy Lover by Phil Collins is one of my top three favorite songs ever, I so wanted a lip gloss with that name! Bollocks, as the British would say!

Next, Orgasm Illuminator, well...it just SO not worth it. It is a peachy liquid with a gold shimmer too it. Sounds like it could be gorgeous but when I put it on my hand, two minutes later it was GONE. Disappeared, then in the daylight I saw nothing The texture is also something I am not a fan of, it is very liquid-y and runny and I hate that. I like for it to have a cream texture, but that is very personal. I think other people might like this formulation as it is very light. I don't know, again just not worth $29.

So in total I am happy because now I have over $50 more dollars in my pocket, but shame on you NARS!

I am sure some people will love these products but they did not hit the spot for me.
Any one care to share their thoughts?

Nars "Love Story" Palette

I have been in contact with NARS for a top secret project having to do with my work but I saw a sneak preview of this baby a few weeks ago. The colors are gorgeous in real life and definitely on my list of MUST HAVES! I love any palette with a black, since i am the queen on matte black smokey eyes.

Edit: It is not up on Nordstrom yet, not until May- thank you to the beautiful Krasey! Check out her blog for a full review of colors! http://kraseybeauty.blogspot.com/

Created exclusively for Nordstrom, this palette of long-wearing, crease-resistant shadows in uniquely paired color combinations is the perfect tool for creating both sultry and dramatically elegant looks for the eyes. Featuring a kaleidoscope of provocative hues infused with colored pearl and glitter textures, all eyeshadows can be applied sheer or built up for a more dramatic effect. All powder eyeshadows can be used wet to create a 'cake' eyeliner.

Full Review:
YSL Rouge Volupte #2- My favorite lipstick formulation, pigmented, creamy, smells great, and moisturizing.
GOSH Darling Lipstick- this is another one of my favorites I picked this up a few months ago on a trip to london (since then I have ordered 2 more to keep as back ups, i love it that much), this is very soft, reminds me of a glaze from MAC, it is THE perfect nude, any more pigmented and you would risk having concealor lips.
MAC Fleshpot- I like this color ALOT, but you have to be careful other wise you get concealor lips, this has a very slight pinky undertone. The formluation is a bit drying and you must have very moisturized lips to wear this as it will enhance the look of dryness on your lips. This was a limited edition, but you can order through MACpro. (This can give you that porn star look, which i hae to admit but I like )
MAC Myth- I like this, very similar in formulation to Fleshpot again, you have to be careful other wise you get concealor lips, this is more beige than Fleshpot.
MAC Creme D'Nude- This is my favorite MAC nude lipstick, this is similar to GOSH Darling, it is easy to work with and much more moisturizing. This is a Creamsheen formulation. It is sheerer and creamier than Fleshpot and Myth.
MAC High Tea- This is a frost, I do not wear it all that much, it is a sheer natural nude with a bit of sheen from the frost.
NARS Belle Du Jour- I love the name, obviously!!! The formulation is better than Myth and Fleshpot, a bit more moisturizing. Its a great pigmented nude, this will not give you the concealor effect. It is a bit darker, but a very wearable nude.

I will be getting my 2 new nudes from Shu Uemura tommorow, look out for the review.
What is your favorite Nude Lipstick and are there any I am missing that I should be trying?

Lesson Du Jour 4.14.09

Starting tomorrow and ending on April 20th, Nars is offering free mini makeovers at Henri Bendel. They’re bringing out their brand spankin new summer color collection and will help you create a fresh summer look. The milky pink peach Beliza lipgloss is calling my name. You’ll also get a free sample of Nars foundation with your consultation. Make up consultations are by appointment only - call Bendel’s at 212-904-7954 to schedule yours.

And if you’d rather take a different route, a more hands on approach to learning the art of makeup application, YSL’s Artistic Advisor Val Garland is teaching a master class at Saks on April 23. The class costs $50 but the fee’s redeemable in product.

This is a great opportunity for anyone in NYC and interested in learning about makeup or getting a NARS foundation freebie :)

Obsession Du Jour 4.13.09

NARS.

My favorite brand since 1997. Nars has been my true love since my first forray into them, from Nars Laguna bronzer to Orgasm Blush to my first eyeshadow ever, Night Fairy.

My three most tried and true (and OLDEST) beloved favorite products of the moment are:
These top 3 were picked on the fact that I have re-purchased each of these products over 2 times.

Sabrina Lip Treatment: Hands down my favorite lip color/ treatment in one product of all time.
Milky pale pink, gorgeous melon smelling lip product. The downside is I can go through this in a month. I have gone through 7 of these so far. Talk about an addiction. To prove my addiction, below is a stock picture from Sephora and beneath it are the two I currently have with me. One in my work desk drawer and one in my bag, at all times. One of them is down to a measly centimeter worth of product. Excuse the quality, the picture was taken with my blackberry.

Turkish Delight and Striptease: I feel the same way about both of these colors. Okay let me tell you about this, I ADORE this color, I hate the smell. I have not found another lip gloss to take the place of this milky pale pink color and the perfect Nude gloss. Let me tell you though, I certainly am on the hunt for a better smelling replacement. This smells like burnt plastic to me, but i love the colors so much that I put up with it. Until something better comes along.
Bellisima Eyeshadow Duo: This is an eyeshadow duo that I have replaced three times. Every time i wear it someone compliments me on my makeup. It is a very neutral palette and goof proof. It has a beige brown for contour and crease and a light shimmery champagne for highlight and lid color. It is basic and a tried and true HG for me.
I also have a secret project I am working on right now having to do with NARS at work, so watch this space for an update!
