Hunt for the Perfect Purple Du Jour 5.9.09

I am getting closer!!!

Make Up Forever #9. LOVE this color.

This is the closest color by far that I have found yet to the SS09 GUCCI campaign. I will do a FOTD later with it.

What do you guys think? Close??

Purple Eyeshadow Du Jour 5.6.09

This post is long overdue, I am very shy about color on my eyes, I am not a fan of colors on eyes and tend to find it juvenile. I usually go for a black, brown or a smokey gray eye. Although, I do have two exceptions... Greens, which I feel is a subtle color on your eyes when using it for a smokey look or a nice emerald liner and Purple. I love purple eye shadows, confined STRICTLY to the eye lid only as a wash or the single color.

After seeing the SS09 Fashion shows in NYC and the SS09 ads I just knew I must venture more into purple, the luscious super hot GUCCI purple. See below:

This is the exact color I am after!

So I did, I already have MAC Violet pigment which is great but this was a more vibrant pigmented matte purple. I knew the exact shade I was after, a blue based purple. I perused the aisles of Sephora, looked at Make Up Forever #92 on a recommendation, but it was too red based I thought. I settled on NARS Duo in Jolie Poupee below.

At home, while I love this color I do not think it is the PERFECT gucci purple, so I swatched all my purples below and decided NONE of them are absolutely perfect so my quest continues for the perfect Gucci Purple.

 I am thinking I will have to take another look at all the Make Up Forever colors because that brand is the only brand with that sort of intensity.

Damn it Gucci, come out with a Makeup line.
