Obsession du Jour: Catch me in your net 6.14.10

I have been lusting over anything sparkly lately. Actually that's a lie, I always love anything with a good sparkle! Anyway, recently I have been crazing a good sparkle-riffic nail polish.

I am happy to say I found the ultimate color! Its by OPI and its from the new collection called Summer Flutter. It is the teal blue color on the upper right hand corner of the display. I ordered mine off the Transdesign website for $5.24.

Anyway more about the good stuff, contained in this bottle is teal/blue/turquoise sparkling goodness. It is SO sparkly, I was shocked when I put it on my nails. One layer gives you intense opaque goodness! This polish is no joke. If you are in the market for high shine bling to your nails and love greens and blues give this a try. I highly recommend it for all you magpies out there!

The sparkle was very hard to capture but I promise this will please you! On to the pictures!

I tried to take a pic in the sun to show you the glimmer, but obviously was not so successful! You get the idea though.

Will you be trying any of OPI's new colors?
What is your current favorite?

Obsession Du Jour: Nudge 3.23.10

I have been overloaded with Pastel nail polishes and to be honest I am already a bit over them. As is life... Anyway, the lovely as ever Alex from Illamasqua and the voice behind their blog sent me a bottle of their new Pastel Nail Varnishes in the color Nudge.

Anyway, she sent this about a month or so ago and I had been staring at it for quite a while and never really tempted to put it on. Last week, I was urged by the gods above to paint my nails with it. I am SO happy i did. This is my absolute favorite nail polish color I think maybe ever. I know I know, that is a bold statement and possibly a bit of a hyperbole but I really am obsessed with it. It is a pastel but a bright pastel, it is a cross between aqua and mint, leaning toward aqua more. On the Illamasqua website they describe this as a "creamy mint ice cream". I do not find this to be accurate as I have tried China Glaze "Re-fresh Mint" and that is a true mint green, this definitely has a dash of aqua in it. The mint green color looks sickly and yellow next to this.

The formula is a very creamy opaque color, no shimmer or glitter and easy to apply. This might be one of my favorites to apply. I put it on with 2 thin coats and it is completely opaque. Something about this color is flattering on my beginning to tan skin.

The color is VERY hard to exactly capture. I took a few pictures in different lighting to give you an accurate idea.

Here it is on the Illamasqua website, it is the third from the left.

Here is a bottle on my messy counter with night lighting.

And lastly, here it is 1 week after application in the cab this morning... practically chip free, which for me is a huge achievement because I am rough on my hands and I love to pick at nail polish!

Thoughts? Will you be trying out Illamasqua Pastels?

Mirrored Nails Du Jour 6.29.09

I have been searching for a mirror like/ foil finish on nail polish FOREVER! I always talk about it and try hundreds of silver nail polishes in hope of finding one like this. Someone on specktra had told me about this one and the only place to get it is on eBay from a UK Seller. I went straight to eBay and scooped it up. THANK GOD I DID! This is exactly what I have been looking for, a foil metallic like finish!

This nail polish comes with two bottles, a base coat and a silver coat. I put the bade on first and let fully dry for about 4-5 minutes. I then put on the silver coat and it looked like any old silver nail polish after I got to my third finger, the first finger was dried and turned into a foil finish like magic before my very own eyes. I couldn't believe it!

Anyway, see for your self...good stuff. Be warned though the wear life is not too hot. Mine started to chip quickly, I did not use a top coat though. I was scared to use a top coat as I thought it might dull the finish.

Any suggestions for a top coat besides Seche Vite?

Nail Polish Du Jour 4.13.09

Weirdest place ever to find awesome nail polish.

Hot Topic... I went to the one on Madison Ave near 55th St. Hot Topic is a chain all over the US. They probably have one in your local Mall.

Hot Topic is not usually a place I shop or wander into, but I am not one to discriminate against cheap cosmetics! My friend whom I was strolling by with had told me she heard it had pretty fun cosmetics. Low and behold, the most pigmented formula's in the most fun colors and for $2.99. I'M SOLD!

China Glaze: For Audrey and Recycle

I was walking downtown today and I found a little beauty shop that had every China Glaze color ever. I was so excited I burst through the doors and guess what I found... For Audrey. The perfect tiffany blue box color. I also found the best grey ever, I have been on the eternal search for the perfect neutral grey color. I have tried everything from OPI for Sephora Metro Chic (too purple) to OPI You Don't Know Jacques (too brown). Recycle from China Glaze is AMAZING, it is the most perfect elephant, matte grey. I am extremely pleased. I will swatch on nails tommorow.
Has anyone else fallen in love with Recycle by China Glaze?
