Obsession Du Jour 8.11.09

As you all know I am having a hot steamy intense love affair with Illamasqua. I think I will dedicate a week of Obsession du jour's to the brand. I here by announce by first obsession from my growing Illmasqua collection. I have added quite a few pieces that I will show you at a later date.

Anyway, I went up to Sephora last Saturday to check out the US Launch, I did not plan on getting too much, but I met the amazing Jennifer and out went 1/8 of my paycheck! I also checked out the original counter in Selfridges on Oxford St. I did not pick up anything there though.

Back in NYC at Sephora, Jennifer so very kindly gave me this goodie as a gift and it turned out to be my favorite gloss of the bunch. It is called Rousse and it is the Sheer Gloss.

It is the perfect Jelly Bubble gum pink with the cushion-y texture I love in a gloss. Everyone knows I love me a bubblegum baby pink! Another thing I love about this is the staying power, it lasts for hours! I have not put this tube down, at this rate I will be buying three more next week!

Have any of you tried out Illamasqua yet? What are your feelings? I want to hear all positives and negatives!

  1. I've ordered twice from Illamasqua now and have been SO impressed with everything I've bought. I first ordered lipsticks in Fable (baby pink) and Obey (peachy pink) Echo eyeshadow (light matte grey) and Collide nail polish (bright neon pink) all of which are gorgeous! The lipsticks are matte but are so creamy in texture, the eyeshadow is super smooth and the polish is a dream to apply and lasts ages. My second order which I got recently (will be posting piccies/reviews on my blog either tonight or tomorrow) contained the pink loose powder which brightens the skin and is amazingly fine in texture, Lament nail polish which is a gorgeous bright coral, Katie powder blush (light, baby pink) and Promise cream blush (a pretty, bright pink). The blushes I'm particularly impressed with as they're sooo pigmented but I have to say, the loose powder is becoming a staple item for me as it really brightens my skintone and creates a beautiful soft focus effect - love it! I can't wait to try more of the products, I've got my eye on Baptiste and Phallic polishes next ;)

I really liked the look of Rousse but wasn't sure if it would be that pigmented being part of their sheer range of glosses. It looks pretty pigmented in your swatch pic though, do I need it? ;)

  2. I too am having an Illamasqua love in. I ordered a bunch of things in July and want more but unfortunately Sephora doesn't ship these goodies to Canada. Sigh. I am saving up now cause I don't think I can resist ordering more from the UK. The blushes and these glosses are amazing.

  3. Oh that looks lovely! It actually looks very similar to one of the Barry M glosses that launched recently, too.

Love your blog, was wondering if you wanted to do an international swap of a couple of items at some point?

  8. WoW...that looks exactly like smashbox's pout lipgloss..I'll have to check this out because while I love the color of pout it is the worst formulation, no staying power at all! Do these have a scent?

  9. The lipgloss looks really pretty! It looks like it doesn't contain a lot of sparkle, right?

  12. I have to admit as excited as I was running to Sephora on Friday(the day of) to see the brand and buy LOTS OF THINGS(I ran in the rain and got soacked). I wasn't impressed at all. I finally convinced myself to by the gold metal as that seemed to be the only thing I wanted to try. I tried it..it's GREAT but it creases like CRAZY..and that's using TWO bases...:( Overall I don't think I'll be trying much else from there.

  13. makeupnewbie- Oh man, that is a bummer to hear. I am sorry about that. Try using less of the gold metal, as it is a creme if you layer too much on it will crease. Try a light layer over UDPP blend is out and build slowly. Let me know if that helps!
