Foundation, Foundation, Foundation 9.11.09

This is a first, I just just finished my Make Up Forever HD foundation. While I liked this foundation I do not think I will be sticking with it. There are just too many others I want to try. Specifically:
  • Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation
  • Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing foundation
  • Illamasqua Rich Foundation
  • NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
and I will be repurchasing my favorite foundation Chanel VitaLumiere.

Anyway, I assume eventually i will try all of these out. See what each company says about all... what a hard decision!

NARS SHEER GLOW
$42
NARS reinvents foundation with a modern formulation designed to enhance your natural complexion without masking it. The weightless formula glides on effortlessly, blurring imperfections and evening out skin tone for the ultimate sophisticated finish that allows your skin's natural beauty to shine though. Sheer Glow is a glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Exclusive Complexion Brightening Formula, skin is hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Illuminate your skin for an immaculate finish.

ILLAMASQUA RICH FOUNDATION

Lock away your inhibitions and bring your confidence to the fore. Touted by professional makeup artists, Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation provides maximum, long-lasting coverage without feeling or looking heavy. It blends easily and hides problem areas perfectly. Create your canvas and then paint your work of art.

CHANEL VITALUMIERE
$54
Delivers a young, radiant look. Lines, wrinkles and imperfections seem to be erased. Ultra-gliding fluid provides buildable coverage. SPF 15 UV protection; nut extract guards against free radicals.

BOBBI BROWN LUMINOUS MOISTURIZING FOUNDATION

$45
This super-moisturizing formula gives skin a soft, healthy, even-toned glow as it helps reverse the visible signs of aging. Formulated with a natural collagen boosting, skin firming blend of Hexapeptides and Milk Thistle Extract. Softens fine lines and imperfections. Skin looks and feels refreshed, renewed and beautifully luminous. Offers medium-to-full coverage. For Normal to Dry Skins. Newly expanded shade range including three new shades requested by artists and customers alike: Cool Beige, Natural Tan, and Warm Honey.

BOBBI BROWN MOISTURE RICH FOUNDATION
$45

Bobbi's popular moisturizing formula provides SPF 15 sun protection while it hydrates skin and delivers a soft, beautiful finish. The formula is buildable, allowing medium to full coverage as desired. For Normal to Dry skin types. Now, Bobbi’s making it easier than ever for a woman to find her perfect foundation with an expanded shade range including three new shades requested by artists and customers alike: Cool Beige, Natural Tan, and Warm Honey.

I think I am going to try the Bobbi Brown Luminous first and obviously I will HAVE to try the illamasqua one because it looks amazing and it is a steal compared at $30.

Have any of you ever tried any of the above? Do you have any reviews on which I should try first?

  1. I tried the moisture rich Bobbi Brown one before and wasn't very impressed. Very little coverage with it but you have clear skin so it might be better on you. I usually use Mac Studio Fix Fluid. I'd love to try the Illamasqua one. Estee Lauder Double Wear is supposed to be good too.

  2. Anon- i do have clear skin but i would like some coverage for those not so clear days. Studio Fix Fluid is too heavy for me!

  3. Obviously I have tried the Illamasqua rich foundation - its my HG for night- time and more dramatic looks. It is a VERY high coverage (As in, you do NOT need concealer) and creates a perfectly blank canvas. It's very thick and some people find that a bit hard to work with. I find it easier if you warm it up between your fingers and pat it onto your face, and then use a brush to buff and blend - you have to work reasonably fast with it. You can also make it more "daytime" by mixing it in with a little moisturiser. I personally love it, but I def feel its more of a night time look - one for those times where you want to look completely flawless. Oh, and it stays put like nothing else... you def need to double cleanse with it!

  4. wow - thanks for this post! I think I have to give that Chanel one a go! I have been wanting to try a higher end foundation for a while, but didn't know which one to get. So, thanks to you I think I wanna try the Chanel :)

  6. I also have the Illamasqua Rich Liquid. While I like it, I notice that all of your other candidates are more moist foundations. Be forewarned that Rich Liquid is very, very matte. If you try it, you may prefer to blend it with a primer or moisturizer. Since it is such full coverage, you'll still end up with a flawless look. I have full reviews of both Illamasqua liquids, as well as swatches of the shades I got, on my site if you're curious!

  8. Jessica- Yes the rich is very different, but I figure it will be very versatile between using a luminizer, moisturizer or whatever else to shape the consistency! I am going to check your site out now!

  10. I hven't purchased any of the above cos I have fd my HG (Px All Skins) but that doesn't mean I'm not interested!

I'm most interested in the NARS Glow and Illamasqua. The Ill is very very very concentrated & full coverage so you only need to use a tiny bit..so I think it will last you ages. I'm intrigued by the NARS one only bc of the word 'glow' in it : D I'm a sucker for that word : D
