Obsession Du Jour 11.11: Illamasqua Scarab

It is officially fall here, well basically winter. It always feels like we completely skip fall and move straight to winter in New York City. Ah well... anyway, I have found my new favorite nail polish color. I always am on the hunt for the perfect deep red with the perfect about of shimmer.

Alex from Illamasqua recently sent me a nail polish to check out, Scarab from the new Art of Darkness collection.

I am OBSESSED! Ever since I got it (about a month ago) I have been wearing it on my nails and toes. It is perfect for the colder months. I would describe it has a deep cranberry with a metallic finish. I am very picky about nail polishes, I like a shimmer but I want the shimmer to read metallic and not just shimmer and Illamasqua has achieved this. This is actually really hard to find in a nail polish. This is THE perfect holiday color.

The formula is great, creamy and perfectly thick without being goopy. I hate very thin nail polish. You only need 1 coat but I like to use 2 coats for full opacity.

$14 is a bit pricey for nail polish, but not as expensive as Chanel, Mac I believe is $11 but this blows MAC's quality out of the water. If you want to splurge on an amazing deep red, this is your best best!

You can find a beautiful nail swatch here at Temptalia.com.

Have you tried it? Will you?

  1. I have tried it and it looks amazing. Like you said it's got the perfect balance of shimmer and it's a really nice metalic colour quite different to the other metalic colours such as silver, graphite and gold and so on.
I absolutely love it and am glad you have and love it too :)

  3. This is a must-have for me! I'm in love with deep shades of red like this one. $30 for a Chanel polish is pushing it for me, but $14 for a polish that's high quality and lives up to its reputation seems pretty fair.

  4. I actually bought a bottle with the Sephora friends and family sale on November 3rd, it came in the mail yesterday (I live in Houston) and I put it on last night. I absolutely love it! I love the fact that it is not a typical red, or bright. It really is fall in a bottle!

  5. Lovely colour - I bought Veridian from the same collection and I love it. In the UK they cost £13, so I think $14 is a fair price, given that Chanel polishes cost £16.50 over here! xx

  8. LUV that color. You know what? Lippmann Collection is $16 for .5oz and Butter London is $14 for .04oz, not to mention Chanel (yucky formula),Dior and Lauder prices. I think Illamasqua beats all of the above. So...I'm in on the Scarab!
