Join me on my adventure...du Jour 3.27.10

Hi All, today I am embarking on a new adventure. Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. The ever lovely and sweet Gemma of Gemsmaquillage.com and I had been chatting about the 30 day shred and I was convinced to join along in her journey. I have heard so much about Jillian, she scares me a bit but I am excited to try and see how it goes after 30 days!

A little about my love/ hate relationship with exercise. I have always been active and athletic, growing up I danced and did gymnastics. In high school I was on tons of sports teams, tennis, track etc. I was always very thin and trim throughout college. However, in college my activity level dropped due to um...partying and eating a lot. I never gained much weight. After college when I joined the workforce my activity level dropped even lower due to sitting at a desk and I found I put on about 10 pounds. I love outdoor exercise and activities, I love working out but I hate gyms, they are boring and smell. I love Yoga, dancing, walking outside, tennis, and basically playing any sport. I am at 110 now. My goal is to get back down to 100. I am very little (5'1) and small bones and am most comfortable at this weight.

About one month ago I started the Tracy Anderson Method, which I LOVE. She is fabulous, if you don't know about her you should check her out here @ http://action.tracyandersonmethod.com/site. I have her Mat workout dvd and her cardio. I am just doing the mat now. She is Gwyneth Paltrows trainer and formerly Madonna's. She is a former ballet dancer and is all about toning and making you "teeny-tiny". She is cute and easy to listen to, she doesn't talk much but I love that because I just blast my own music. her workout's are INSANELY hard. Its lots of repetitions. It burns and kills and you think you cant get through it but you can and when you do you feel great. My muscles have gotten more toned and I have seen a lot of changes. I will never not do her mat dvd however I want to try something else. That it where the shred comes in.

Today will be my first day, I will be taking pictures along the way and letting you all know how I am doing.

Health and exercise is very important to me. You have one body in life, you better treat it right! Anyone want to join on the journey?

  1. Wow this is very exciting! I hope you get back to the weight you want with this program! :) I heard about this 30 day shred on someone else's blog, I can't remember her name right now. It seems to be pretty popular these days, now I'm getting tempted too! I personally go to the gym everyday and stay there 1,5 - 2 hours doing a mixture of cardio/weights. In addition to this, I walk a little over 2 miles everyday with my puppy in a local park. I really look forward to walking with my dog everyday. I love working out the gym as well because I know that I am doing something good for my body and my health. I just wish that I could work out outside because I just love fresh air! I may join in on the 30 day shred as well, why not! We could all accomplish our weight loss goals together yay!

  3. Thats awesome girl, best of luck on your journey to getting back to your most comfortable weight! I'm a shorty to 4'11" I'd like to at least be 114lbs lol.

  4. GOOD LUCK! I know youll do great on this weight goal journey just dont lose too much as in my oppinion judging by your face (fullness..and the bit of body we see) you dont need to lose a single pound!!! xx

  5. Good luck...I do whatever I have time for. Sometimes I get on my excercise bike for 30 min. sometimes I find cardio or toning on excercise tv. Have you ever tried the Jacki Warner dvd...I love it. I haven't done it much yet this year. I used to and it totally got me in shape. Check it out...I also won't go to the gym. it does smell and people just stare so I do what I can at home....

  8. I've done it...made it to day 3 on level 1 and called it quits. I do have a friend who did it and she loved it although she did want to kill Jillian every day. Good luck!

  9. I love the 30DS! I used it the month before my wedding and noticed an immediate tone-up, in my abs especially. Levels 1 and 3 are my favorites. But I didn't stick with each level for 10 days in a row. I just mixed it up depending on how I felt. Cool stuff! I bought Jillian's yoga dvd this weekend too--curious how it is. I love her no BS attitude, that cheerleading crap is not for me. And I really love that the work-outs are only 20 minutes, great with 2 toddlers running around.

  14. Krista- I never tried Jackie Warner, but I LOVED her tv show :)

    Tali- Aw thank you! I know other people dont see it, but you know when you are the most comfortable and happy with yourself is the most important. I do not want to be a twig but I want to def tone up A lot and get back down to my normal/ thinner weight!
