MAC Dupe Du Jour 5.13.09

Okay, so I am sure we all have been hearing about Revlon's new matte line lipsticks, Pink Pout and Nude attitude and how they are dupes of MAC's Myth and MAC's Angel. When I heard this I made a mental note to go try these out.

I finally got my butt into duane reade, a whole 1 block from my apartment, I am lazy what can I say? Anyway, I digress, so I found them both there. I got home and they both looked kinda dark. I compared them to Myth and Angel...what do I think? Look below.

(Angel and Myth on left and Nude Attitude and Pink Pout on Right)

While swatched on the hand they look very similar in color, almost identical, but in texture they couldn't be farther apart. Revlon Matte's are VERY dry, MAC's were much glossier and creamier. For all of us that think Myth is drying and hard to work with, do not go near Nude Attitude then!

On the lips, Nude Attitude and Pink Pout are a touch darker than the mac's.
I will swatch these on the lips later if you all would like to see that.

In Conclusion, I give Revlon A- for effort but C is execution, too drying and and the texture is a bit rough. I will stick to MAC for the extra $5 or $6 dollars.

  1. Excellent review and good to know. I have both Angel and Myth and was thinking about trying the Revlon ones. Now I can save my cash for something more worthwhile. Thanks!!

  2. Thanks for this :) I also have both Angel and Myth from MAC and was thinking of getting these from Revlon to use on days I do not want to wear my good lipstick but want the same colour. I still might try one from Revlon but I think I might stick to MAC!!

  4. Sarah, you can try them out, but the formula is not close to being as nice!

  5. Nice colors, but it's a shame they're so drying! I think most matte finishes are. I think I'll stick to NYX for the moment. Thanks for sharing this! xxx

  6. Rocaille- Yes, Mattes are usually drying but these are extra drying on me!

  7. Note to self: Must try Angel...But seriously, good post! After trying the Nude Attitude for a while,I agree with you about consistency...Plus it does tend to have a slightly beige-ier tone, and it makes it a bit more difficult to combine it with another lippie...Anyone else think the same...? xxx

  8. Tina- Angel is great, for me it is very subtle as it is almost the same color as my lips. I prefer a lighter color but this is GREAT and is always worn by Kim Kardashian ;)

  9. Hi girl - checking out your blog!

I agree the revlon matte collection is very drying. I really want to love Nude Attitude but it just makes my lips look all crackly.. I hate that!

  14. i'm so glad you did this. i was eying the nude matte revlon lippie but it's so hard to tell how they'll look on when you can only look at the tube. and i definitely do not need a drying lippie. my lips are dry enough!

  16. Great comparison!! They do look very similar but I agree sometimes the cheaper lipsticks are not worth sacrificing the quality and texture.
