Obsession Du Jour: Tom Ford Lipsticks 5.27.10

Alright, Alright...I know these are expensive at $45 a pop, but if you are like me (crazy, obsessed with Tom Ford, obsessed with packaging, nudes and lipsticks) then these are pretty much a must have in your book.

I am in love with Tom Ford to begin with, ever since he designed for Gucci back in the day. He is a fashion god and beyond sexy. Everything he does drips with sex!

When I first heard about his foray into lipsticks I knew I would spend whatever it was on them and then I saw the pictures and I knew I would be waiting patiently until the day these were released to quickly scoop up the nude colors.

I picked up Vanilla Suede and Blush Nude. In the photo below you cant really tell the colors, Vanilla Suede is the very light nude and Blush Nude is the pink nude. They are both extremely pigmented. Vanilla Suede has a slight ultra refined shimmer to it, which I quite like as sometimes a Matte Nude is very hard to wear. This nude is glossy and easy, no flakiness or dead looking lips. Blush Nude is more of a matte but still has a very slight sheen. They give me about 3-4 hours of wear which is good for me because I talk a lot and am always drinking a tea or coffee! They smell like MAC's lipsticks, but less strong.

The packaging is to die for its a lacquered white metal with gold framing. Now, this is the weird part, when you close the top of the lipstick you hear a click. It is the most expensive click. I know this sounds odd but if you have ever slammed a Mercedes door you will know what i mean. Its a tight low sounded click. very expensive feeling and sounding. Now you all probably think I am crazy! Its okay!

Anyway onto the pictures:

These are available online @ Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
They are also available in store. Pick them up now if you want because I hear that they are limited edition and were not sold in a mass amount!

Will you be picking any up?
Do you think its crazy to spend $45 on a lipstick or do you think it is fine? Love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Pretty yes, but hell no am I handing over that much money for a lipstick as I've stipulated on my blog already. I 'get' the car door comparison, but nah I'm still not buying one LOL

  2. Tom Ford is sex on a stick. I would have to swatch these babies in person, but I don't know if I could part with the cash for them. Blush Nude looks good, what formulation are they?

  3. i think if you really want one then go for it. there's nothing wrong with indulging every once in a while. if i were to get it, i wouldn't where it every day and save it for times when i really want to pamper myself or special occasions. if it's going to make you happy, then i say yes get one!

  5. Expensive click! Love the expression and I know what you mean.
Like the fact that the packaging is white, for a change, but it looks like it will add more weight to an already heavy handbag...
    Blush Nude looks very pretty.

  10. I will definitely buy one of the nude tones. Regarding the click, Chanel is similar, it took them a long time trying to find the perfect click for the new Rouge Allure lipsticks. God I´m such a geek to know something like that!

  11. I got these two as well! The Blush Nude is AMAZING - I just posted about it in my blog, too. I'm not sure about the Vanilla Suede, though -- I was expecting matte, but it comes off kind of frosty and corpse-like on me. :(

  12. girl! those are gorgeous! good for you for gettin' what you want! i am a firm believer in if you can afford it and want it-then get it! i can't afford it and i'm waaaaay too fickle about lipsticks plus i always forget to keep putting them on when i'm at work b/c i'm always running around crazy and wild doing other things. go for it sis! p.s. y'all in NY have the cutest accents!

  13. Is it crazy for me to willing plunk down $45 for this and not for Guerlain? Maybe the whole LE aspect does it for me. Also, I adore Tom Ford and agree with you on his whole "walking sex" vibe he has. Maybe I'll try a sexy red/burgundy type of color to really make it worth my while!

  15. These are GORCEOUS colors! I really want to pick up a few but the closest Neimans/Saks is FAR. And i don't want to purchase it online since I won't know what the actual color is. I love em!! ( :

  17. I have been lusting over these for so long, but haven't been able to pull the trigger on a $45 lipstick ;)

  18. I have a couple from the brighter end of the spectrum (my colouring is high contrast, so I can't do nude lips). I totally get what you mean about the click - I sat in the pub making a bunch of my friends listen to the click - it's like a padded click. I love these lipsticks, very expensive, but so so good.

  19. I am so interested. There is no Neimam's anywhere close to where I live, but I have a friend who might be able to purchase for me. I know we both share a huge obssession with NUDES, Vanillla Truffle being my absolute favorite (too bad Estee Lauder discontinued) so I was wondering if you could guide me to which Tom Ford lippy is the closest to that one.

  21. Software can be expensive, but free programs have been a mainstay of the desktop experience for decades, and today's offerings are pretty powerful. Software developers can adopt an ad-based model, donation-ware to keep things afloat, or a shareware/freemium model that charges for extra features. masterforpc
