Spring Trending Du Jour 2.13.11

Here we are again with again with our spring trends. This one I don't know if I am on board with... Red toned eye shadows. Seemed to be a big hit for Spring 11. For me, this can border on the conjunctivitis look.

MAC and Makeup forever would be good companies to look at, as well as Illamasqua or NARS, if you are interested in delving into this fashion forward trend. You can check all of those out at Sephora besides MAC and well, you all know where to get MAC.

Specifically, I would recommend:
  • NARS Grenadine here
  • MAC Red Brick here
  • Makeup Forever in Matte Cold Red here
  • Makeup Forever Aqua cream here
  • Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Resolute here
  • Illamasqua Eyeshadow in Angst here

Check out the below looks.

What do you think?
Will you try it out?

  1. heyy gurl..i think its a brilliant trend..havnt seen red eyes for a while..i think one can wrk this look by either using a more orange tones red or even like a cranberry-ish red with plummy undertones :) xoxo

  2. I kind of like this, with green or blue eyes it would look fantastic. Some MAC colours are also good, the ones that are more on the burgandy/purple side like Cranberry if you do not want to go red all the way :P The only colour i would wear is probably a soft lillac colour.

  3. As a red head with super-fair skin, I'm afraid of what this would look like on me.....scary?!?!?

  5. i love it! but not the red like brick red matte look! but the first and last looks are great, like Heritage Rouge from MAC, i often do a smokey eyelook just using that pigment and it looks really edgy but chic at the same time!

  6. I love red eye shadow, so this makes me happy. I find using an orange or purple based red is best for an all over lid colour. If the red is too pink based it'll resemble an eye infection.
I think if you put a warm brown or terracotta in the crease, it'd be a nice twist on a 70s smokey eye.

  7. I looove this! But I'm not sure yet if it would be wearable outside of the runway. You're right it can very easily go down to the conjunctivitis line. But I think that if you do it right its GORGEOUS!

  9. Hahaha! Border on conjunctivitis!
I think a little liner goes a long way in helping to alleviate the conjunctivitis-y look. ;-)

  10. Certainly. Because I wore it before it was in ;). I love red eye shadow :).

(Eye shadow's my favourite type of make-up & red's my favourite colour.)

  11. The second image is gorgeous. I could never pull this off but when it's done right on the proper skintone...it is beautiful!

  12. I really don't think it's a good look, it looks like they are suffering from bad allergies. I have fair skin and every time i try to use pink eye shadow it looks like a disaster. The models are gorgeous but im not sure I would go wit this trend. Great blog! http://ninyabella.blogspot.com/
