New Obsession Du Jour: Navy Eyes 4.1.10

I can NOT believe it is April. Time is FLYING by when you are obsessing over makeup. Sad but true.

Anyway, I have a new obsession, as you all know I get infatuated with things from time to time, such as coral lips, pink cheeks, nude lips etc. Right now, my new thing is NAVY smokey eyes. I saw a few amazing photos and realized I need to adopt this sexy smudgy look asap. The navy keeps it from being too goth.

With that being said, I right away ordered the MAC navy greasepaint stick (along with some, okay fine, a lot of other things!) What other tools are a must have for my journey along the navy trail? I am thinking Urban Decay 24/7 in Binge or Make Up forever in 3L. I am going to head to sephora during lunch to test those bad boys OUT!

So I was inspired this morning to try this look out and this is what I came up with. Super simple and easy.

How to get this eye look:

  1. Start with a smudgy eyeliner, I used MAC Stylin Pearlglide. I would have liked this to look more blue, but oh well!
  2. Start lining all around your eye, top and bottom.
  3. Smudge out with a Pencil brush, finger, q-tip whatever.
  4. Make sure to blend all over eyelid, stopping just short of the crease.
  5. I topped the eyelid with Contrast by Mac, just the eyelid, dont go into crease.
  6. Re-line top and bottom lashes and line the water line.
  7. Top off with Mascara, I used Lancome Hypnose.
Voila!

Thoughts on the navy smokey eye?

  1. I always do this for a quick look, getting the eyeliner and smudging it that with some mascara and a lip gloss and I'm out the door! I never tried it w/ Navy but I'll be sure to try it out!

  10. i've been using navy on the outer corners a lot lately--much less jarring than the usual black, and more interesting than brown :)

i'll have to check out the MUFE liner, as I've been going with a nars shadow. btw, your lashes are great!

  16. I LOVE it - quick and sexy! I'll try this with my Designer Purple tomorrow. I also tried this with the Dirty Greasestick with Sweet Sienna on top - didn't look as sexy as I hoped for. I think it's just a matter of blending and smudging.
